The Phlebotomy Technician position will play a key role in processing and analyzing specimens submitted to the Center's laboratory for testing. Schedule: 8/9am - 5/6pm, schedule posted on a monthly basis

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform general laboratory phlebotomy including venipuncture, heel-finger sticks
• Performs pregnancy and urine testing
• Performs all duties related to the collection and handling of blood.
• Collect specimen as outlined in patient’s medical requisition
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Provide timely analysis of specimens (bodily fluids, blood, urine, etc.)
• Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity.
• Enter specimen analysis and results in a patient’s electronic health record
• Ensure that patient test results are reported efficiently.
• Monitors test analyses and specimen examination to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
• Communicate all pertinent information effectively and timely.
• Keep the Laboratory Supervisor informed to ensure that appropriate remedial action is taken whenever a test system deviates from laboratory’s performance specifications
• Properly prepare and package specimens for send out testing
• Check requirements for send out testing
• Perform duties as assigned by Laboratory Supervisor
• Can handle a fast paced environment
• Have great communication skills
• Able to multi task in an extremely fast paced office

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Phlebotomy certification required
• Prior phlebotomy experience required
• Knowledge of EHR or EMR strongly preferred
• Must have a strong ability to work independently as well as an effective team member
• Must display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively relate to all medical staff
• Must have excellent ability to analyze test results, computer generated reports, etc., including superior follow up skills and attention to detail
• Must have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and remain flexible in adjusting to changing conditions within the clinical/laboratory operations

Salary Rate: Starting at $20.00/hr
